POLICY STATEMENT: RETAIL OF FOSSILS AT THE ETCHES COLLECTION 

• The Etches Collection will only offer fossils for sale where there is no known breach of national or international law.

• Items offered for sale are from recognised sources where commercial fossil collecting is openly practiced as part of the local economy, yielding benefit to the local population.

• Preference is made to sources where fossil collecting is a by-product of other legal extractive industry.

• Preference is made to sources where fossil collecting has yielded other benefits, e.g. use of fossil shark teeth as opposed to those extracted from fished living shark species.

• No fossil acquired to the museum collection previously or in the future shall be offered for retail sale.

• All items offered for sale will be sourced via wholesale sources, and museum staff or volunteers will not engage in field collecting for retail purpose.

• This is a living policy that will alter in scope and detail in accordance with changes to International and National Law.              The Etches Collection 2020

Products from the Premier Collection will be shipped by our third party shipping agent Fossil and Gemstones on behalf of The Etches Collection Museum.
